Mr. Baker was a very special teacher. His patience and willingness to help all his students was unsurpassed. I always enjoyed and looked forward to his class. Though often times struggling to understand, he was quick to leave no student behind. Thank you for being a part of so many young lives. Prayers to all of his family.

Mr. Baker was not only one of the smartest teachers at LSE, he was also one of the most patient. While I was danced well with Algebra, I struggled with Calculus for months. Mr. Baker spent many after-school sessions with me, helping me grasp the interwoven relationships of the topic. Understanding those relationships bore fruit when I wrote my books about lighting design and the characteristics of light, “A Practical Guide to Stage Lighting,” and I thank him very much for that. Kind thoughts and condolences to his entire family.

HB was one of my favorite teachers at SE High. He took a great interest in me, I battle drugs and alcohol through my first year and half at Southeast High School and then managed to stay sober during my Junior year and Senior year. HB worked hard with me, almost on a daily basis to get my grades up, so I could graduate. I will forever be in his debt, because it wasn’t for HB, I would have never graduated in the class of 1981!!! You will be missed HB! Prayers to the family.

Harold’s son, Bruce, is one of our best friends of 30 years. Over the years we heard so many stories about Harold, many of which had to do with Bruce growing up and old adages that Harold would tell Bruce…who would share them with us friends. They usually had to do with math or science in every day life. (they usually started with “…you know as HB would say…” A few of those roll around in my own head to this day just as Bruce would relay them to me. I know this family is hurting and we are lifting them up in our thoughts with love and light. May “HB” rest in peace.
