Harlan Edgar Ackerman, 82, of Waverly passed away June 11, 2022. Born January 1, 1940, in Grafton, NE to Edgar and Margaret (Freid) Ackerman.
Harlan was a high school track star in Sutton, holding the track record in the 200-yard dash for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and then trained thoroughbred racehorses, winning multiple stakes races with his horses.
Harlan also ran the computer system for parimutuel wagering for decades, primarily in Nebraska but also traveling around the country. He retired in 2010.
Harlan’s great loves were family, friends, fishing, camping, making windmills, birdhouses, door knockers and gardening. He was a jack of all trades, and master of most.
Family members include his wife, Kristina Morrow; children Leslie Anthony, Brian Ackerman, Christopher Ackerman, Rita Ackerman, Donald Ackerman, and Matthew Partusch; grandchildren Gabrielle, Danielle, Quinlan, Ryleigh, Axel, Adalyn, Caleb, Jacob, and Janelle; great-grandchildren Allison and Harlan; brother Gene (Charlene) Ackerman.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill and sister Mary.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday (6-16-22) Roper and Sons Waverly Chapel, 10851 North 148th Street. Inurnment will be in the Grafton Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
