Gerald Roger Burge, 78, died 10/29/14 in his home in rural Lincoln, with his children by his side. Gerald was born on 11/14/35 in Lincoln, NE to Leslie and Florence (Pump)Burge.
Gerald was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church from the time of his birth to his death. Gerald married Darlene Cummings, his bride of nearly 60 years, at Trinity Lutheran Church on 11/18/54. They had 3 daughters, then at last, a son. Gerald and Darlene spent their life raising their family and farming. They enjoyed many strong, warm friendships and were devoted to their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors are wife, Darlene of Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeri and Ernie Neubauer of Dunbar, Peggy and Monte Shipman of Lindale, TX, Denise and Bruce Callies of rural Lincoln; son, Craig and Carol Burge of Williamsburg, VA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Teri and Larry Tenney, Jackie and Larry Wheatley, all of Lincoln; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday (10/31/14) Trinity Lutheran Church, 5315 S. 162nd Street, Walton, NE with Pastor Robert Wentzel officiating. Burial in Cheney Cemetery.
Memorials to the church. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ St and one hour prior to service time at the church.
