Obituary

Gayle A. Vance

September 20, 1954 - October 24, 2021

Gayle Amanda Bryce Vance returned to her Heavenly Father on October 24, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born to Henry Warren Bryce and Rulah Pearl Sorensen on September 20, 1954 in Murray UT.  She spent her first three years in Bingham, Utah then the family moved to a home in Magna, UT where she grew up; graduating from Cyprus High School and then Snow College in Ephraim, UT.

She worked as a secretary for U&I Sugar and the Industrial Engineering Dept of Hercules.  She married Robert Lee Vance on March 8, 1985 in the Salt Lake City Temple and built a home in the Bennion area.  Two children blessed their lives.  A job transfer brought them to Lincoln, NE in late 1993.

Gayle was a talented sewer, dabbled into quilting and loved crafting, making cards to send to others and scrapbooking.  She was an avid reader, loved to laugh and enjoyed being a homemaker.  She loved to travel and collected Christmas ornaments wherever she went.  Chocolate and other sweets were her favorite food and her greatest joy was being with family and friends.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.  She served in various leadership and teaching positions with youth and adults, loved others openly, and developed lasting friendships with those she served.  She served as an ordinance worker in the Winter Quarters Temple for many years. She volunteered in the schools and community and during the pandemic last year sewed over a thousand facemasks.

Family members include her husband Robert, daughter Breanna (Denver) Andersen of Newman, CA, son Brady (Breanne) Vance of Syracuse, UT, brothers Stephen (Robin) Bryce of St. George, UT, and Ron (Arlene) Bryce of Magna, UT.  4 grandchildren Lincoln and Austin Andersen; Madison and Calvin Vance; nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alan and Larry Bryce.

Her faith and sense of humor kept her spirit elevated and lifted her family and friends during these recent health challenges.  The family expresses sincere appreciation to the medical professionals who provided such loving care.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday (10-29-21) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3000 Old Cheney Rd. and will be accessible via Zoom (https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEvdOCopz0jGtec-0yEqquFr6yy_GxU0rHE).
