Frank Steven Larson, age 68, of Lincoln NE passed away on March 5, 2022. He was born on December 13, 1953 in Wahoo NE to Frank and Genevieve (Pearson) Larson.

Frank graduated from Wahoo High School in 1972. After graduation, he attended SCC Milford campus, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology in 1976. For a short time, Frank worked for the NRD in Osceola NE, and then began his long time career with the City of Lincoln Public Works in 1977. There he worked as a survey crew chief for many years, then eventually transitioned into the Technology Services/GIS Department, where he retired from in 2015.

Frank married Lori Schwisow on June 26, 1992, and they shared nearly 30 years together. Frank was always ready to try anything at least once, and loved nothing more than a few cold beers, a good cigar, and a big cut of Nebraska beef on the grill. He was proud of his Swedish heritage. Frank loved being on the water in his boat fishing, and spent many hours chasing after the one that got away. His kind soul and infectious laugh will forever be missed by those who love him.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Lori; Sister Jan Karaty and nephew Patrick Karaty, both of Hannibal MO; brother-in-law Scott Schwisow of Beatrice NE, and his beloved, faithful canine companion, Oliver, who was always by his side. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, parents-in-laws, and all the other beloved family members who have gone before him. Rest easy my Old Swede.

We are so saddened and shocked to hear this sad news of Frank. We just met him a few weeks ago when he came to Hannibal to see his sister Jan and beloved nephew Pat. He and his wife came by and although we only talked briefly, we were very humbled by his kindness and it was a pleasure to meet him. Sending heartfelt condolences to his dear wife and family, God bless you and bring you peace during this sudden loss.

I started fishing with Frank in his canoe that was boke in half and patched back together some 40 years ago while he still lived at 28th & Orchard and BBQ’d on a grill that had to have a brick to hold up the grate so he could cook his Swedish chicken (great cook). Drank many a beer on a Thursday night with Frank, and many a pizza t Big Fred’s up in Omaha. Shared quite a few trips to Canada to fish. He caught a quite large (54″) musky on the Winnipeg River on one trip that he had to fight for a half hour to get in to the boat, and once it was in the boat on the floor it was so mean looking we were up on both sides of the boat standing on the boxes laughing at it glaring at us. Frank said he couldn’t feel his arm from fighting the thing. It dragged the boat all over the place during the battle. One of many memories I was lucky enough to share with him. We knew each other well enough we didn’t feel the need to speak for hours at a time on these trips, and really enjoyed the relaxation it brought. I’ll miss not having a beer with him at Lazlo’s on Thursday nights, being able to solve the world’s problems, discussing most anything and the fellowship it brought. I feel really fortunate to have had the time with him that I did.
