He married Joan Brousek on November 25, 1961, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Bruno, NE. Frank worked at Nebraska Prestressed Concrete for several years, then worked at Goodyear where he retired after 29 years. He also worked full/part time at the Catholic Center near Waverly, NE for 18 years. Frank served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Bad Nauheim, Germany. He was a member of the Valparaiso American Legion Post #0371, Waverly VFW #9875, DAV Chapter #7. Frank was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lincoln.
He loved his Polka music and loved to dance. Frank enjoyed building a variety of items and fixing anything for anyone. You could always find him in the garage with Polka music playing while working on his projects.
Frank always took time to visit family and friends, often unexpected. Grandpa Frank loved to joke around with his grandchildren and had a special connection with each of them.
Family members include wife, Joan of 62 years; children Gary (Stacey) Pavel, of Friend, NE, Ricky Pavel of Waverly, NE, Becky (Kenny) McGinley of Albany, MO, Debbie (Ron) Tomes of Utica, NE, Melanie (Matt) Warner of Waverly, NE, and Jayme (Kelsea) Pavel of Waverly, NE; grandchildren Kaitlin (Mike) Popkov, Zach (Bailey) Sharp, Ben (Regan) Warner, Hannah Tomes (Hunter Reimers) Melissa (Spencer) Stenger, Max Tomes, Kendyll Pavel, Sam Tomes, Grant Pavel, Ashley Warner, Aydyn Pavel, Avery Pavel, Quinn Pavel, Camila Pavel and Eloise Pavel; great grandchildren, Hayden Sharp and Oliva Popkova; extended family includes, sister in law, Marcie Brousek, and sister and brother in law, Phyllis (Jerry) Swanda; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerome Pavel, sister and brother-in-law, Janice (Val) Makovicka, brothers in law, Richard and Victor Brousek, sister-in-law and brother in law, Leona (Jim) Pavel.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6111 Morrill Street, Lincoln, NE 68507. Fr. Troy Schweiger officiating.
Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6111 Morrill Street, Lincoln, NE 68507. Family will greet friends 1 hr. prior to Rosary. Burial to be held in Rosehill Cemetery, Waverly, NE.
No viewing/Cremation.
Memorial may be designated to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Marian Sisters, Valparaiso American Legion Post #0371 or to the family choice.
