Eugene Edward Chadwell, Lincoln, a great golfer and gentleman passed away into heaven on Sunday (8-9-09) at the age of 98 years and 10 months. Born (10-17-10) in Omaha, Nebraska to Eugene M. and Lucille (Dahlem) Chadwell.
On March 11, 1937, Gene and the love of his life, Lola Louise Goodman, were united in marriage. They had 68 years together. Gene worked for over 30 years at Roberts Dairy in Omaha and Lincoln. He was employed at the Lincoln Housing Administration until his retirement. At a very young age, Gene started golfing and did so until October of 2008.
As a member of Hillcrest Country Club, he was the club champion for many years. He won numerous golf tournaments over the years, including the Omaha Publinks Gold Tournament and the Lincoln City Golf Tournament. In May of 2000, Gene was inducted into the Nebraska Golfing Hall of Fame. He and Lola were Charter Members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife Lola; brothers: Robert, George. David, Harold and John; sisters: Lucille, Eugenia and Mary; son-in-law: James A. Nelson.
He is survived by his children, Eugene (Mick), Lincoln; Robert and Judith Clark, of Omaha; Janice Nelson, of Lincoln; Lorance and Robert Newburn, of Martell; Thomas and Deana, of Central Point, OR; and William, of Lincoln; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe of Omaha; sister-in-law Eula Chadwell of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law and wife, Dean and Helen Goodman of Great Falls, MT; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday (8-15-09) St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1015 Lancaster Lane. Kristie Bohac officiating.
