Ellia had a joyful character and took delight in the small things of life. She loved cats, the color pink, the number 71 (we don’t know why), moving fast, singing, playing with dolls, reading her Bible, the occasional prank, and Disney princesses. Ellia loved spending time with her sister and brother, playing Legos or watching something together. She was witty, funny, and tender-hearted.
Through the years Ellia took part in a variety of activities, from Classical Conversations Homeschool group, Homer’s Heroes (special needs baseball league), Dancing Beyond Limits (special needs dance group), Church youth group, and recently Confirmation class. By far one of her favorite experiences was summer Muscular Dystrophy camp.
In 2019, Ellia chose to be baptized. It was clear that of all the things she enjoyed in life, Jesus was top of the list. Because her body struggled in everyday life due to her muscular disorder, she hated sin and its effects on this world, on her body particularly. She loved Jesus and the renewal he promised, which began in this life and will be fully realized at the resurrection. She was a strong witness to the goodness of God and would tell anyone about Jesus.
We know some of the ways Ellia impacted others positively in her short life, many stories we have yet to hear. We cherished the time we had with Ellia. She was a gift from God, and now has been received into his care.
Her family members include parents, Evan and Stephanie Westburg; siblings, Sophie and Andrew; grandparents, Stuart and Janice Westburg, Mark and Julie Smith, David Sutton; great-grandma, Lawanna Sutton; and many more family and friends.
