Many wonderful memories reflected on as I watched Uncle Richard’s service livestream. It was a beautiful celebration of a very accomplished life. Our childhood gatherings at Grandma Helen Wiese in Dodge will always bring a smile.

Thank you for being my best man at my wedding to Bernadine. It was great to see you last summer laughing and talking together while reminiscing about the old days of tomfoolery.

My condolences to Luree and family. Dick was a colleague for many years before he retired. He was dedicated to getting scientifically sound information to farmers. We also played on the Agronomy softball team together when I was a graduate student. I recall he was a rather good player.

50+ years ago, I had the opportunity to work under Dr. Wiese through the work study program in the Agronomy Department. He provided me with my first “real” job experience – assisting with the collection and preparation of soil and plant samples and helping prepare photographic slides for presentations among other duties. I never forgot how kind and patient he was towards a kid that had “never been off the farm.” My condolences to his family and many friends.
