Dorothy J. Eickhoff

Dorothy J. Eickhoff, 75, of Unadilla, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2015 after a three-year, courageous battle with cancer at Good Samaritan in Syracuse, NE. Born May 14, 1940 in Shubert, NE to Norman H. and Daisy Isadore (Hall) Gates. Dorothy moved to a farm north of Falls City. It was at this farm she would meet a handsome redhead, Delbert Eickhoff, who later would become her husband of almost 55 years.

In May 1961, she and Delbert were married during a two week leave from the Army. To this union two children were born, Denise and Darin. She worked as a school secretary for Faith Lutheran Church and school in Lincoln, NE for 15 yrs. until her retirement in 2007.

Dorothy loved going to dances, auctions, and looked forward to her evening phone calls with special friends. Dorothy was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. Survived by her husband of 55 years, Delbert; daughter, Denise (Mark) Moerer, Unadilla; son, Darin (Kimi) Eickhoff, Lincoln; grandchildren, Justin, Jonathan, McKayla, Danielle, Kirsten and Shannon; great grandsons, Asher and Deklin; sisters, JoAnn Eisele, Indianola, IA; Norma Brittell, Falls City, NE; sister in law, Darlene (Larry) Douthit; nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and loved ones. Preceded in death by parents; grandparents, Charles Hall and Ethel (Beason) Hall, and Clennie Gates and Mittie (Ankrom) Gates; infant brother; aunts and uncles; brother-in-law; and nephew.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (1-5-16) Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street with Pastor Robert Wentzel officiating. Burial in Prairie Union Cemetery, Shubert, NE.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Monday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Home.
