Donald ‘Del’ Bokowski, 82, of Lincoln passed away May 22, 2024. Del was born September 29, 1941 in Burke, South Dakota to Donald and Elmae (Petersen) Bokowski.
Del grew up in Fremont and then Hooper, NE. He graduated from Hooper High School in 1959 where he was a 4 sport athlete and ended his high school athletic career as the catcher on the 1959 State Legion Baseball Championship Team. He served in the US Air Force from 1963 to 1967. Del Graduated from Norfolk Junior College in 1969. He was named to the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges”. Del went on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1972.
Del married Elaine(Carr) November 24, 1967. Together they have two sons, Jason and Matthew.
Del played fast pitch softball for many years in Lincoln. He was an avid outdoorsman with his main interests of hunting and fishing. Sports was a big part of Del’s life throughout and was passionate about his Dodgers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He spent many hours at the ball fields and courts supporting his sons and grandchildren in their athletics along the way.
Del had a successful 36 year career in sales devoted to always providing the highest level of customer service.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; sons, Jason(Janet) and Matthew(Amy) of Lincoln. Grandchildren; Jordan and Jarren, Sawyer, Brecken, Daxton, Nora and Hattie Bokowski.
Del was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Elmer Springer; his beloved brother Terry and an infant step sister.
Funeral service: 10:30 am Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive.
Visitation with family present from 5-7 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel.
