Diane was born to Lynn and Mildred (Svitak) Choat November 2, 1965. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE on December 5th, 1965 and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran in Cedar Rapids, NE on March 30th, 1980. Her confirmation verse is John 8:31-32. She grew up on the Choat farm with her four brothers, attended Boone County District 9 school, and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in May of 1984. Diane married Kevin Bolin at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids on December 19, 1987. She graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising from UNL in 1988. She enjoyed working as a seamstress, running a business with her mother, and sharing of her love of sewing with others. Her biggest joy in life was homeschooling her six children and regularly volunteering for activities in which her children were involved in, such as 4-H and speech & debate.
Diane was a regular volunteer at Immanuel Lutheran. Over the years, she served on LWML, as Sunday School Superintendent, and church treasurer. Diane also led many projects to create new paraments and banners for Immanuel’s sanctuary.
Diane’s life is characterized by an abundance of God’s undeserved grace. She was blessed with 34 years of marriage to Kevin, six children, two granddaughters, and numerous friends. She was blessed to outlive her initial diagnosis in October 2017 by almost 4 years and see three of her children get married. Having been baptized into Christ’s death, she lived her life in love and dedication to all those around her.
Diane is preceded in death by her grandparents, her father Lynn, her father-in-law Calvin, and a nephew, Christopher. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kevin; six children: Jeremiah, Marie (Christopher) Waldrop, Micah (Baylee), Noah (Katie), Jonah, and Elijah; two granddaughters, Brooksie and Shelby; her mother Mildred; her brothers Dan (Teri), Darrel, Dean (Sally Jo), and Dallas (Krista); her mother-in-law Julie Bolin; sisters-in-law Karen and Kristina (Justin) Redalen; brothers-in-law Kelly and Kory (Emmie); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
