Obituary

Delores E. ‘Dee’ Bargman

November 15, 1928 - July 19, 2023

Delores E. ‘Dee’ Bargman, 94, of Lincoln passed away July 19, 2023. Born November 15, 1928, in Adams County, IA to Vernor O. and Bessie J. (Johannes) Westrope. At 6 months old she moved to Lincoln, where she was raised.

She graduated from Lincoln High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University. She married Lyle in 1949. Their daughter, Gail, was born in 1952. Dee and Lyle enjoyed 60 years together.

Dee spent her life as a wife, mom, and math teacher (Pound Middle School) pouring her time and efforts into helping others. Among her many community and organization roles, she was proud to be a member of Christ United Methodist church – a joy she had for over 60 years.

In 2016 Grammy Dee got her proudest role yet – Great Grammy. There is nothing she cherished more than family time.

Family members include her granddaughter Kylie (Jeff) Henry, Dunwoody, GA; son-in-law Steve (Genie) Isaacs, Marietta, GA; grandson Carter Isaacs, Nashville, TN; great-granddaughter Abigail Henry; brother-in-law Marvin Bargman, Vero Beach, FL; and a host of family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband Lyle K. Bargman; daughter Gail Isaacs; brothers Perry Westrope, Merrill Westrope, Infant brother; and sister Margaret Newcomb.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eastmont and St Croix for their compassionate care as she ended her race.

Growing up, I was very good friends with Gail. Dee and Lyle were such dear parents to her and always made me feel so welcome. Later on, I reconnected with them here in Lincoln. I have such wonderful childhood memories of their family. Blessings to you all!

Dee & I met through our husbands and their passion for improving middle school education. Lyle always spoke highly of Dee. I enjoyed being in their company. Their mutual respect was obvious. I enjoyed hearing their memories of Gayle. When Lyle spent anxious time in intensive care, Dee‘s behavior was a model of respect for the medical professionals as well as diligence for Lyles’s compassionate care.
