Deb will be greatly missed! One of my kindest friends. We met at a work training in Washington DC of all places, me from Texas and her from Nebraska. Two country gals in a big city. We had so much for that week! We stayed in touch for the next five years, I guess you could say modern day pen pals. Deb told it straight and I loved that. We vented a lot about work but she was also there for me during births and deaths, joy and sadness. Even when I transferred to a different department we always kept in touch talking at least weekly. I spoke to her the Tuesday before her surgery and our last texts were full of love for that I am thankful. I will always think of Deb when a special bird comes around, she loved her animals. Rest in peace sweet friend. One day we will get to that Irish Pub again.

I’ve known Deb for almost half of my life and I’m a better person for it. She’s been many things to me over the years, but most of all she’s been my person. The one I went to for advice, to share joys/sorrows, the one I vented to, the one I wanted to tell everything to…. we talked almost daily, sometimes multiple times a day. If we weren’t talking, we were texting or sharing memes/videos. We were always in contact. She kept me informed on topics I pretended not to care about. She always checked in on me. She was always there in some way. I will miss our talks and hearing her voice. I will miss all of the updates on her family and friends, hearing about the birds she watched outside her kitchen window, her cats, and her thoughts on Husker football. I will miss meeting up on our trips back to Nebraska… usually at a restaurant to get a snack or at a dog park. Her and Chris were always game to meet us along the way to/from our final destination. The time together was never long enough but we tried to see each other if we could. She will be forever in my heart.
