Dale Vernon Vanderford, born January 16, 1928 to Austin and Constance (McKinney) Vanderford in Peru, Nebraska. He entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2017, at 1:31 a.m., at age 89. Dale attended and graduated from Peru Prep High School. He received his B.S. degree from Peru State College and went on to receive his Master of Arts degree from Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado.
Dale loved the mountains. He felt he was closest to God when he was there. Dale enjoyed being a teacher and coach for 38 years. He only missed four days of teaching his entire career. He taught in the classroom, but in sports he taught students the value of being great, upstanding citizens. He put his faith in God as the greatest lesson for students. Dale taught Industrial Arts and Coached at Elk Creek, Ewing, Dunbar, Unadilla, Elmwood, Nehawka, Murdock, and Bellevue. If he needed something and it wasn’t available, he made it. Dale met his wife of 50 years, Rosalyn, while teaching at Murdock. They were married June 5, 1965. To this union, two sons were born. Dale Daniel Joseph and Jon Sterling Henry. He was a member of the Murdock United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School, sang with the church choir and was Sunday School Superintendent.
Dale is survived by, wife; Rosalyn of Murdock, sons; Dale Jr., of Murdock Jon and his wife Taryn, of Lincoln, grandchildren; Jacob Sterling and Olivia Kay. His sister Anita Webster.
Preceded in death by parents, grandparents, and brother Dean.
Dale will always be remembered by his willingness to help anyone at any time.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 220 Kansas Street, Murdock, Nebraska.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 11, 2017 12 to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
Burial in Callahan Cemetery.
