Dale attended grade school and high school, and graduated from Murdock High School. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with a major in Agronomy. Dale played the tuba in the Cornhusker Marching Band during his time at UNL.
After graduation, he did some farming. Then, he went to work for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. He dedicated himself to that work, and truly enjoyed it.
Dale was hired to help with the Elmwood/Murdock band, and loved to play in the band at ball games with the kids. He started a local chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and also directed the Murdock Museum. Dale was courageous, and fought cancer to the end.
Dale is survived by his mother Rosalyn, brother Jon and wife Taryn, nephew and niece Jacob and Olivia Vanderford, uncle Elmer H. Miller (Janice), cousin Marcia Miller (Mark), aunt Anita Webster, cousins Rhonda Chomos (Sandor), Debbie Denney (Dennis), Jeff Ahl (Jane), Barb Nelson (Dennis), Myrna Bornemeier (Dan), and many more friends and relatives.
Dale loved his community, the town of Murdock, and he was always proud to put on events for everyone to enjoy. He took pride in performing in a special Blues Brothers band with his brother, Jon.
