Charles “Chick” Campbell, 97, of Lincoln, died Tuesday (3-5-13). Born (12-14-15) in Loup City, NE to Nile and Bessie (Grady) Campbell. He was in the construction business for many years. Chick was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse from the late 40’s to the late 1960’s and a longtime member of the Salt Creek Wranglers. Chick was a real cowboy at heart and loved to dance. He was dancing on his 97th birthday.
He is survived by his daughter, Tess (Pete) Crawford, Grandview, MO; great-grandson, Ian Henry, Mechanicsville, MD; sister, Lucille Lundy; brother, Dr. Alfred (Gerry) Campbell, all of Lincoln; brothers, Dr. Maynard Campbell, Federal Way, WA, Nile (Gerry) Campbell, Greeley, CO; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Chick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gracia, granddaughter Valorie Henry, sisters Coral Wright and Ruby Hixon.
At his request there will be no service, however, viewing, reception, and presentation of his life with family and friends will be Friday (3-8-13) at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street from 6-8 pm. Private family burial.
