Catherine Boosalis, 92, devoted wife, mom, grandma and great grandma of Lincoln, Nebraska died June 23, 2014. Catherine was born in Tripp, South Dakota on April 9, 1922 to George and Edna Christopulos. She had two sisters Daisy and Eva and one brother Chris. They moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the late 20’s where Catherine grew up and attended Washington High School and graduated in 1940.
Catherine worked at J C Penney’s out of high school and then at the air base during World War II. She met her husband John Boosalis, of 69 years during his leave from the war in the summer of 1943. After marrying in 1945, they moved to Pensacola, Florida then to Faribault, Minnesota where John and Catherine worked in the family restaurant called the Olympia. In 1957 they moved to Fairmont, Minnesota where they owned and operated The Sweet Shop Restaurant and candy store. In 1961 the family moved to Lincoln operating the Colonial Inn Restaurant on Cornhusker Highway near Havelock. In 1966 John and Catherine owned and managed The Knolls Country Club which is still being operated by son, George Boosalis. John and Catherine retired from The Knolls in 1984 and enjoyed their winters in Scottsdale, Arizona. John and Catherine had four children, Dean, George, Mary Kay and Gregg. Catherine was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Daughters of Penelope.
Survivors include husband John, 4 children, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Son Dean of Santa Fe, NM and daughter Angela husband Joe Powers, sons Lukas and Logan of Denver, CO, son George, wife Janice and daughter Kaylin of Hollywood, CA, daughter Mary Kay McCown and husband Gary, son Jason and wife Faith, daughters Charlie and Lila, son Benjamin and wife Stacie, sons Noah, Nyles and Deklen of Liberty, MO, son Gregg and wife Debbie, son Bronson, fiancé Kaitlyn Gross of Omaha, NE and son Brandon, sister Eva Chadiles of Glenview, IL and family friend Robert Bromley of Santa Fe, NM, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents George and Edna Christopulos, brother Chris Christopulos of Sioux Falls, SD and sister Daisy Till of Anaheim, CA.
Please join us in the celebration of our dear Catherine’s life. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday (6-30-14) Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 950 N. 63rd with Father Nicholas Klodnicki officiating. Family will greet friends from 5-6:30p.m. Sunday followed by a Trisagion Prayer Service at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
