Carol Lynn Knop

October 13, 1948 - October 18, 2024

Carol Lynn Knop, 76, of Lincoln, Nebraska, went to see her beloved Jesus on October 18, 2024, after a yearlong battle with COVID 19, Shingles, Pneumonia and Lung Cancer.

Carol was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 13, 1948, along with her twin sister, Cheryl Senff.  Her parents were Garland and Helen (Duchek) Senff.  Carol spent her early childhood days on her parents’ farm near York, Nebraska.  She attended York High School and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Nebraska Teachers College.  She later received the degree of Master of Education at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

While still in high school, she met the love of her life and her future husband, Don.  They were married at Emmanual Lutheran Church in York, Nebraska on June 7, 1969.

She taught mostly Kindergarten for 35 years at Cheney Elementary.  When class 1 schools in Nebraska were closed, she finished up her 43-year teaching career by teaching kindergarten at Norris Elementary School by Firth, Nebraska.

Carol was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for over 55 years.  She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi, a social sorority and the Zelta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gama, a teacher’s sorority.  She was a member of the Eastern Nebraska Reading Council, was an usher at the Lied Center for Performing Arts and was a past Co-Chair for the Christ Schools Auction.

Her survivors include husband, Don; sisters Cheryl Senff of Lincoln, June (Tim) O’Meara of Tallahassee, FL and their son Ryan O’Meara of Cocoa, FL, Joyce (Kelvin) Peterson of York, NE; son Corey (Angie) Knop of Niwot, CO and their son, Riley of Lincoln; daughter, Kellie Knop (significant other, Dan Ferguson) and her 3 children, Maximilian, Giovanna and William all of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Nancy (Fred) Mahler and their children MinDee (Cary) Sommerla and Tad Mahler all of Malvern, IA and their children and grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Garland and Helen Senff.

Carol’s entire life revolved around teaching and helping young kids to be the best that they could be.  And that especially included her children and grandchildren!

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Carol Knop to Christ Lincoln Schools or Lincoln Lutheran Middle/High School.

Visitation with family at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel 4300 O Street Lincoln, NE on Saturday, October 26 from 3 PM to 5 PM.

The funeral will be at Christ Lincoln Church 4325 Sumner Street, Lincoln, NE on Sunday, October 27 at 2:00 PM.  The burial service will be in East Liberty Cemetery north of Malvern, IA on Monday at 11:00 AM, October 28 with lunch following in the Malvern Community Building.
