Obituary

Carol J. Jensen

September 3, 1931 - March 25, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Carol Jane Jensen, 93, of Lincoln, on March 25, 2025.  Carol was born on September 3, 1931 in Casper Wyoming, later moving to Alliance, Nebraska.  She and Darrell owned three Ben Franklin Stores in Lincoln, Nebraska.

She was a long time member and very much enjoyed being a part of St. Matthews Episcopal church including Choir, Alter Guild, and Vestry.  She enjoyed cruises, Nebraska football with her family, and was a member of PEO Chapter FF.  She remembered her time in Casper quite fondly and enjoyed talking about when she met Darrell in Alliance.

She loved reminiscing about visiting her grandparents in Alliance every summer as a child.  She loved and respected her entire family very much.  She has missed our dad tremendously since his passing.  It helps to know that they are finally back together as they should be.  She is reunited with him, her sister and mother that she so missed. She was very proud and took great joy in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her Children, Kathy Moravec (Daryl); Thomas Jensen (Jan); Karen Jensen (Brad Roth); and Kenneth Jensen (Merridy).  Grandchildren, Amy McNeil (Kurt); Andrew  Moravec (Melissa); Jeremy Jensen (Sara); Keefer Jensen (Cassie); Dalton  Jensen (Brenda); Patrick Haas; Michelle Tate (Kyle); Casey Jensen; Ty Jensen; and Ally Jensen.  She also has 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025, at St. Matthews Church, 2325 S 24th St, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Darrell and my mother, LaVona (Butcher) Schommer were classmates at Alliance High School. At a class reunion they figured out that I was the pharmacist at the pharmacy in the grocery store where Darrell and Carol shopped. After that discovery, Darrell and Carol always stopped by the pharmacy to visit whenever they were grocery shopping. I always enjoyed reminiscing about all things Alliance with them.

The Jensen’s were always good to us Delsing kids and let us pile in on them at state basketball a long time ago. And the tours of Ben Franklin were fun! God speed and I’m glad she is with Darry. They were good people…
