Obituary

Brad C. Hartman

June 7, 1960 - December 12, 2024

Brad C. Hartman, 64, of Lincoln, NE, passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born on June 7, 1960, in St. Paul, MN to Robert & Geraldine (Paulsen) Hartman.   After completing training at Brown School of Broadcasting, Brad moved to Montrose, CO, where he was operations manager of a group of radio stations. He then moved to Lincoln, NE where he was Operations Manager of KFOR for many years.  In Lincoln, he reconnected with Beth Cornelius, and the two were married on February 7, 1987.  This union was blessed with two children:  Emily Kate and Chase Robert.  In 199X, Brad left KFOR to start Community Connections Inc.

Brad was very active in his community serving on the Boards of The Food Bank of Lincoln, The Lincoln Food Bank Foundation, The American Red Cross as well as many boards at First Plymouth Church.  Brad also was sound engineer for the First Plymouth 10:30 Sunday service for many, many years.

Brad and Beth loved to travel and were fortunate to visit many places along with various family members and friends.  His family was his main joy.  He and Beth tried to spend as much time with them as they could, proudly watching them on their journeys. Brad will be remembered for his sense of humor, his inclusivity, and great interest in people.  There wasn’t anyone he wouldn’t talk to.

Brad is survived by his wife, Beth Hartman; children Emily Hartman (fiancé, Stefan Whiting) of Gunnison, CO, and Chase Hartman (wife, Amanda) of Chesapeake, VA; grandchild Ada Hartman; father Robert Hartman of Roseville, MN; siblings Barbara Hartman of Minneapolis, MN, Brenda Hartman of Roseville, MN, and Bryan Hartman of Bloomington, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Preceded in death by his mother and parents-in-law, Wendell and Jane Cornelius.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17th at First Plymouth Church (2000 ‘D’ Street). No visitation/cremation. Livestream online at roperandsons.com

Brad was such a wonderful person. He was one of the most helpful, “can do” people I have ever worked with and always cheerful, giving and truly authentic to himself. What a great loss to his family and the entire community at large. He will be terribly missed by all.

What a great guy Brad was to be around. I enjoyed going out to walk with Brad on their wooded acreage “piece of heaven” that Brad and Beth built their house on. More than once I was summoned out to have a beverage and help decide the placement of their house and outbuilding. Always a pleasure to be with my client turned friend. His smile, laugh, wit and intelligence will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to Beth, Emily, and Chase.

I recall when Brad introduced us to the idea of selling Internet service. We were complete novices, but he patiently taught us the basics and offered his ongoing support. His approachable demeanor made collaboration effortless. Soon after, he returned to assist with server setup and dial-up modem installations. I always appreciated working with Brad. He was consistently encouraging, always had a positive attitude, and made the process enjoyable.

The Hartman family provided wonderful support to Family Ministries at First-Plymouth during my work there. When they were on the team, nothing was impossible and Love and positive energy radiated. Sending prayers for God’s sustaining strength in the days ahead.

I am sorry to see this. I worked with Brad (at a very tough time in my life) and he was quite the professional and very dedicated to excellence. My heart goes out to all who love and are close to him.

This is sad. Brad was OM at KFOR my last year there. A true professional taking over a tough job. But rather than default to a typical position of wanting to put his stamp on the station, he allowed the great pros to simply continue doing their jobs well, earning their trust and respect. RIP Brad
