Beverly was born March 8, 1932 to Clifford Carroll Ginn and Faye Bernice (Shirck) Ginn, in Waterville, Kansas. Four years later her baby sister, Meredith Ann, joined the family. Initially the family lived in Kansas City, Missouri, later moving to Pueblo, Colorado, where Beverly and Meredith grew into their teens and young adulthood. Their father and mother were both tailors, owning a cleaners and tailor shop in KC and Pueblo.
Beverly met the love of her life, Clyde Lee, and they were married on Nov 10, 1957, in Washington, Kansas. The happy family moved to Havelock, in Lincoln, the same year.
Beverly retired from a remarkable 38-year career in radiology and nuclear medicine in 1992. She became a Radiology Tech while living in Pueblo. When she and Clyde married and moved to Lincoln in 1957, she began her long career working for Radiology Associates, in the Sharp Building. At age 40, Beverly was asked to return to school to further her career in a new branch of radiology – nuclear medicine; to that end, she became the first Nuclear Medicine Tech in Lincoln. She went on to train and advise many SCC students, as well as staff, in this specialty. She loved her work and cherished the memories of her colleagues and patients, continuing to share her memories of this time until the end of her life.
Music was the center of the life in the household of Beverly, Clyde and Patty Carroll. It was a rare day if you didn’t hear Beverly singing in the kitchen or while working around the house. She sang in the church choir, as well as with the Gospel Ensemble, of Havelock Methodist Church. Beverly was dedicated to exercise and keeping herself physically fit. She began jogging in the 1970’s, teaching daughter Patty Carroll the art and the two enjoyed fun runs together in the 1980’s. Her first love, however, was golf. She became a member of the LWMGA and never passed up an opportunity to hit the links with family or friends; earning her a prized “Hole in One” trophy on 8/29/97 at The Highlands, on hole #8, 114 yds, using a 5-iron. Following Beverly’s retirement in 1992, she and Clyde spent their winters in Alamo Palms, Texas, returning to their Lincoln home in summers.
Beverly was a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and the American Registered Radiology Technologists. She was a lifetime member of Havelock United Methodist Church and a member of the Lincoln Women’s Municipal Golf Association. Beverly was dearly loved by family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances for her unselfish interest in everyone else’s life, loves, pursuits and struggles. Her faith in her Lord was evident in everything she pursued. She was an optimist who always saw the best in every person and every situation. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her; but, her spirit and love of life will live on in all the lives she touched.
