Beverly “BB” Baer Pribble Gard Pinkerton

June 26, 1926 - October 11, 2022

Beverly “BB” Baer Pribble Gard Pinkerton, 96, of Lincoln went to Heaven on October 11, 2022. Born June 26, 1926, in Salina, KS to John and Vera (Baer) Pribble. She grew up during the Great Depression, a WW II teenager and definitely a member of the “Greatest Generation”.

Love you, Later

Mom (BB Pinkerton)

She graduated from Kansas State University with a Journalism Degree and was also a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was one of the first women on the radio in Salina, Kansas. She worked in the radio field until her first marriage, which came after the end of WWII. Beverly married the love of her life, John Phillip Gard who was a Fighter Pilot with the 61st Fighter Squadron. They had two sons together, Mark Phillip Gard and John Stephen Gard before he was tragically taken during the Korean War. She later married and then divorced Dave Pinkerton. They had one son, Brian Clarke Pinkerton. After her divorce she moved to Lincoln, NE from Alexandria, VA and worked as a legal secretary while devoting her life to raising her three sons.

BB was an avid bridge player and absolutely loved her bridge group. They went on yearly trips together to Arizona, Kansas City and Mahoney State Park. When not on a trip they met every Wednesday to play. Beverly would always be in the kitchen, making something delicious for everyone to enjoy. If it was 5PM, we all knew she was be enjoying her daily Bourbon and Soda and having some finger snacks. BB left everyone she came across a better person, instilling values, proper etiquette, and especially table manners. She always had the wittiest comebacks, always ready to pull one of her one-liners out and make everyone laugh. Mom never ever said Good Bye. It was always ‘Love you, Later’. We’re proud, happy and very grateful to be able to say “She was our Mom, Grand and Great Grand”. We will miss you forever and love you with all our hearts. Many thanks and hugs for being you! With Love, Mark, Steve, Patty, Beverly, Colton and Brooklyn.

BB is survived by her sons Mark Phillip Gard Pinkerton and John Stephen Gard (Patricia) Pinkerton, grandchildren Beverly Sue Pinkerton and Colton T. Pinkerton; great granddaughter Brooklyn all of Lincoln; second cousin Lisa Drake of Kansas City. Preceded in death by her parents, husband John Phillip Gard, son Brian Clarke, sister Moyne Ann Rogers, and cousin Curt Williams.

Bev paid me the ultimate compliment by telling me I was the daughter she never had. I lost my own mother 32 years ago, but she lives on in my heart and Bev has always shared the space next to her. I have tried to understand the amount of strength and courage it took to survive the hardships that transpired in her life. But she survived them and lived with joy, laughter and love. I will never know a grander lady. So to Bev, my mom & best friend -Love you later-your loving daughter- Pat.

Beverly always had a way of making everyone’s day brighter just with her presence. I always loved hearing her stories. She was quite the story teller. She helped me so much when I was going through my divorce, always with words of wisdom and encouragement. Her strength made me stronger. I will miss her smile, laughter and jokes. The world needs more people like Beverly. She definitely left this world a better place, just by being a part of it. Love ya Beverly. Later.

29 years ago my husband to be introduced me to his mother. It was a surprise visit and she was not expecting company, but he was her son and she was a lady so she ran her fingers thru her hair and graciously invited me in. Within a very short time we were laughing an exchanging stories from our childhood. When we both discovered that we liked to eat bark from saplings ( a story that until then I had never shared with anyone) a friendship formed. Bev became my best friend and my second mom.

I have called her “Mom” ever since my own mother died in 1998. Beverly and my mom became very close friends as her son, Mark, and I left to serve in the Vietnam war as combat leaders in 1970. I’m certain they prayed together for our safe return, and we did. She was a great comfort to me for all of these years since, as my adopted “mom” and I loved talking to her, especially when I was missing my mom. She was encouraging and full of uplifting spirit. I will miss her voice and joy of life. Thanks, mom.
