Beulah Claypool

January 29, 1936 - July 18, 2023

Beulah Claypool, 87, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away July 18, 2023. She was born January 29, 1936 to Arthur and Marie (McCleland) Claypool, in Cairo, Illinois.

Beulah was raised on the family farm in Karnak, Illinois, where she loved working in the fields with her older brother, George. Beulah became a Sunday School teacher, teaching school age kids. In 1959, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she worked at a nursing home and later working at multiple hotels.

Beulah retired from working at Best Western Motel and her part time job at ServiceMaster. During her retirement, she was able to enjoy her family and loved ones. Nicknamed “Honey” at home and affectionately known as “Big Baby”, Beulah had a heart that was as pure as gold. She accepted any and every one. Once you walked through her door, she considered you family. Beulah became the mother figure and cared for many. Her hospitality showed her true heart and her demeanor would always set the tone of the room. Beulah’s love for dancing, the blues, wrestling, fishing with her oldest son Robin, rodeos, and baseball was the connection she shared with many.

She is survived by her children, Robin Claypool, Sandra Whigham, and Rhonda (Eric) Walker; 3 grandchildren, Jason (Jaime Patterson) Claypool, of Grand Island, NE, Sharonda (Reese) Staten, of Georgia, and Darryl Claypool (mother of children, Melissa Lawler); along with multiple great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, 14 brothers and sisters, including her twin sister, Eulla Claypool, son-in-law, Sidney Whigham, and daughter-in-law, Carol Wilson.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln, NE.

There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the service at Metcalf Funeral Home.
