Barbara Sue Rixstine-Danielson, passed away at the age of 62 on Feb. 20, 2013. She was the daughter of Ruth and Donald Rixstine, former owners of what is now Rixstine Recognition. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968 and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1990, being the first of her immediate family with a bachelor’s degree. Rixstine was an avid reader and often shared book titles and authors with friends, through her Book Blurbs presentations at Gere Library and through book clubs as a presenter and member.
She was a frequent contributor to the Journal-Star book reviews and the regular book columnist to ‘L’ magazine. She also participated in the national crossword tournament for several years. She had been adjunct faculty in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at UNL. She was also co-founder of the Flatwater Austin Healey car club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ruth and by her brother, Donald. A. Rixstine. She is survived by her husband, Jim Danielson, her son, Gerry Beltz, both of Lincoln, and her brother, Douglas, now living in Alabama, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 2-8 p.m., with family 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 1, at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 O St. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the funeral home.
