Barbara Jo McCulloch

January 5, 1930 - May 4, 2011

Barbara Jo McCulloch, 81, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was born January 5, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska to Frank and Nell (Stanton) Furman.

She graduated from Northeast High School and attended Nebraska Wesleyan where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She attended the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in Omaha. While in Omaha, she met and married Robert McCulloch.

She later received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree from the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was an instructor at the UNL Barkley Memorial Center and worked as a clinical audiologist for over 30 years. Past president of the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Susan McCulloch.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Steven Blum; son and daughter-in-law Timothy McCulloch and Michelle Ciucci; former daughter-in-law Laura McCulloch; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Marian Furman; sister and brother-in-law Kay and Robert McMeen; grandchildren Erin, Michaela, Cameron, Nicholas, Chloe, and Sophia; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends and colleagues.

Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Saturday (5-7-11) St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2325 South 24th Street. Father Stephen E. Lahey, officiating.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the UNL Barkley Memorial Center or St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
