Arthur H. Yost Jr., Lincoln, passed away peacefully on Thursday (2-17-11) at the age of 93.
Art was born and remained in Lincoln graduating from Lincoln High in 1936 and attending the University of Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Combat Engineer Battalion during World War II and during campaigns in the South Pacific. Following the War, he returned to Lincoln and became the General Officer Manager at the J.H. Yost Lumber Company. In 1955, he received a promotion as the President of the business, overseeing nine lumber yards and two Ready Mix Concrete plants throughout Nebraska. Art continued as Chairman of the Board at Central Lumber Sales from 1968-1991. He was a member and Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and actively participated in Lincoln’s community as a member of the Cosmopolitan Club, Lincoln Elks, American Legion, Nebraska Lumber Dealers Association, Nebraska Club, Hillcrest Country Club and Charter Member of the Lincoln Sailing (Snipe) Club.
He is survived by his children; Ann Yost of Sedona, AZ., James Yost and Linda Yost of San Diego, CA., four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son; John Henry and his wife of 50 years, Eleanor (Ellen) Turner Yost.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday (2-26-11) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Burial in Wyuka Cemetery.
