Arlene Janet Bennett, 91, Lincoln passed away April 24, 2022. Born March 23, 1931, in Chicago, IL to Algot and Violette (Carlstrom) Johnson.
Arlene worked in the healthcare field when she lived in Wahoo, NE since she was in high school. After marrying her husband Burdette in 1981 she worked for the UNL custodial division.
Arlene assisted with the cub scout program for boys who were physically handicapped. She taught Sunday School Eastland Ministries Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed square dancing and camping.
Arlene was a member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
Family members include her daughter Sandra (Dennis) Chmelka, Wahoo; grandchildren Michael Chmelka (fiancée Crystal Johnson), Crystal Swahn, John, Carol and James Rogers; great grandchildren Destiny, Cade, Kendra, and Nevaeh; stepson Joe Bennett, Lincoln; stepdaughter Tina (Bryan) Schwahn, Omaha; step grandchildren Rene, Candy, Angela, Kristy, Stephanie, Samantha, and Paige; step great-great grandson James Michael; sister Alice Clough, Omaha.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Burdette, son Donald Rogers, son-in-law John Bennett, sister Gladys Remmereid, and brothers Warren and Richard Johnson.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday (5-2-22) Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation with family present from 4-6 p.m. Sunday (5-1-22) Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel.
