Ann Marie (Hanna) Tolly

May 26, 1940 - January 11, 2017

Ann Marie (Hanna) Tolly, 76, of Lincoln passed away on January 11, 2017, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born May 26, 1940 to William and Philomene (Tetherow) Hanna in Lincoln. Ann attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO, for two years, and then graduated from the University of Nebraska.

She was an active member of the community having served on the Lincoln Symphony Board, State Historical Society Board, Friends of Lied Center Board, and was a Junior League Sustainer. Ann was a member of Sorosis Club, P.E.O. Chapter V, First Plymouth Congregational Church, and several book clubs and bridge clubs. In 1961, Ann was voted Nebraska Sweetheart and was an Aksarben Countess. She was Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, and received the Kappa Alpha Theta Kite Award. Ann was an accomplished pianist, loved to entertain in her home, and enjoyed traveling the world, especially Scotland, cherishing her Scottish heritage.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Harry R. Tolly; son, Chad W. Tolly; daughter, Kristin (Jonathan) Imms; grandchildren, Madeleine and William Tolly; sister, Rachel (Mike) Dent; niece, Leslie (Mathew) Lee; great nieces, Ayden and Fallon Lee; and many other friends and loved ones. Preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday (1-18-17) at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D St. with Rev. Dr. Jim Keck officiating. Cremation/No visitation.
