Obituary

Ann E. Lott

-

Ann Elizabeth Blackstone Lott was born on June 15, 1945, in Bridgeport, NE. Her parents were Herbert Blackstone, MD, and Marion V. Gaswick Blackstone. She enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1963 were she met her future husband, Roger Lott. She passed away on December 20, 2024.

Ann enrolled in The University of Nebraska Medical School in 1967 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She graduated with an MD in 1971. She completed an internship at Georgetown University Medical Center and returned to Bridgeport to practice with her father. In 1974 she returned to Lincoln and enrolled in a dermatology residency program at the UNMC. She completed her training on the day she gave birth to her daughter, Susan.

Ann began practicing dermatology in 1978 and practiced dermatology in Lincoln until the end of 2015. She very much enjoyed her patients and was passionate about her work helping people. She attended many conferences and classes to keep herself informed and add to her skills as a dermatological surgeon.

In addition to her practice she became an avid runner, completing more than 40 marathons and innumerable shorter races. She very much relished her many running friends in Lincoln. She completed more than 13 Lincoln Marathons and traveled to run in other races, including marathons in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. Her favorites included Grandmother’s Marathon in Duluth, MN, and Pike’s Peak Marathon in Colorado. She was devoted to her informal running group, the Turtles, runners who always finished, slow and sure.  Ann served and was seriously invested in several organizations in Lincoln, including the Lincoln-Lancaster Commission on the Status of Women and the YWCA of Lincoln.

Ann is survived by her husband, Roger, her daughter Susan (Graham), and three grandchildren, Henry, 9, Clara, 5, and Beatrice, 2. She is also survived by many people she touched by her work, her community, and her many, many friends.

Memorials can be made to Center for People in Lincoln, Girls on the Run in Lincoln, The Great Plains Trails Network, and the Alzheimer’s Association.

A memorial service will be announced after the beginning of the year.

Share a Memory or Condolence

I went to school with Ann from kindergarten thru high school. She was such a lovely person. When she and Roger came back to Bridgeport so she could practice with her dad, Roger had a law office, and I enjoyed working with him. They were a neat couple. My deepest sympathy to Roger and their family.

My fondest memories of Ann are seeing her and Roger at fun runs in the 1980s. They were always together, smiling, offering me ready words of encouragement. They were truly there to have fun and share their happiness!

My condolences to the family. I was also a patient for many many years. I greatly enjoyed her. She always had a wonderful demeanor and a smile on her face.

Many fond memories of Dr. Lott when she worked at Dr. Strnot’s with my mom. I was required to call her Doc-ette. Only me. It was never Doctor. I got scolded if I did. She was a bright spot. Thank you Doc-ette. You will be forever missed.
