Amy had a God-given gift for music and she shared her gift through violin, ukulele, and vocal skills in so many ways. She played for many friends and family weddings and events, and was heavily involved in her church life as well. She started taking violin lessons at age 8. She was involved in Orchestra and was a two-time All-State Orchestra participant. In college she was in CHOIR AND MUSIC GROUPS.
For seven years, she found herself surrounded by love in her church family at 2 Pillars Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Amy volunteered as a worship leader in music ministry and served as a member of the launch team to establish a new church plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Amy and Alex met in March of 2018 and were married March 2, 2019. In the Fall of 2021 Amy became involved at the First United Methodist Church in the choir, bell choir, and music ministry with her violin
Amy and Alex met in March of 2018, and became close very quickly. Their relationship bloomed and blossomed and in October of 2019, they became engaged to be married. On March 2, 2019, Amy and Alex were married at 2 Pillars Church. She and Alex stayed involved in their church, and recently joined their new church family at First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
In such a brief time, roughly 14 weeks or so, Amy and Alex became a vital part of their church community and ministry through worship, choir, bell choir, Amy’s contribution through her violin skills, and much more. The entire church community at First United Methodist and 2 Pillars Church have been impacted by her life and have long-lasting effects from her presence.
Amy was also a loving daughter. She rode in Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) with her dad twice. She enjoyed helping her parents with yard work at their house…
Amy was a best friend to her sister, and a doting aunt to her three nephews who she loved to play make-believe games with, and was baptismal sponsor for Wyatt. She always made a point to engage with them and join with their imaginations for hours on end.
Above all, Amy absolutely loved all people, loved the church, loved music, loved animals, and her family. She was wholly dedicated to the cause of justice wherever she saw injustice. Although her passing leaves us in abject pain and sorrow, we can know that it is a transition to newness for her. A transition to a new life free of anxiety, free of pain, free of sorrow, and where she gets to sing and make perfect music with all the puppies and kitties she wants for eternity. We can only hope to be symbols of the pure love of Christ like she was. She was such a pillar of kindness, integrity, openness, and love. She always knew who and whose she was, and – at least for her – the best has now come.
She is survived by her husband, Alexander Steadman; parents Mark and Dianne Petersen of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister Krista (Darrel) Branz, nephews Clayton, Reese, and Wyatt Branz, all of York, Nebraska; Grandma Erna Thieszen of Lincoln, Nebraska; Father and Mother-in-law John and Sharon Steadman of Norfolk, sister-in-law Emily Steadman, nephews Isaac and Jude; brother-in-law Jared Steadman of Norfolk, niece Ariel; and such a great cloud of witnesses, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and church family, as well as her beloved pets; Dogs, Charlie, Pluto, and cat, Zazzles.
The final resting place for her earthly body is in a beautiful wooden urn, hand made and contributed by her uncle, David Petersen.
