Alan L. Pokorny, 76, Lincoln, died Wednesday (11-30-11). Born (11-12-35) in Schuyler, Nebraska to Lumir and Lillian (Cakl) Pokorny. Grew up on a farm near Howells, Nebraska. He worked for the U. S. Postal Service for 32 years and served as Postmaster in Valley, Nebraska. U. S. Navy Korean Conflict Veteran. Member: St. John The Apostle Catholic Church and American Legion Post #3. Loved antique tractors and cars. Adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loved to read and watch TV.
Family members include daughters, sons-in-law: Kathleen and James Wesely, Milford, NE, Diane Santi, Lincoln, NE, Lori and Mitchell Leif, Utica, NE; grandchildren, spouses: Jeremy and Stephanie Wesely, Sister Mary Faustina Wesely, Joel and Melanie Wesely, Amber and Bryce Marker, Melissa Gilliam, Miranda, Brittany and Cassidy Leif; great grandchildren: Lillian, Kaily, Gianna and Caleb Wesely; brother, sister-in-law: Paul and DeAnna Pokorny, Linwood, NE; sister, brother-in-law: Marjorie and Bill Phelan, Gretna, NE. Preceded in death by parents, wife Dorothy, 1 brother, 2 sisters.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street. The family will greet friends prior to the rosary from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the church.
