Kerry Lynn Mersch left this life on May 12, 2019 at the age of 76. He was born to Clarence Mersch and Evelyn Lambert Mersch in Davenport, Nebraska.
The family moved to York when Kerry was 13. Kerry left York at age 17 to attend college in California. There he met and married Brenda Holt. After graduating from Pepperdine, he enlisted in the Army Security Agency. He was stationed in Virginia where one son was born and Asmara, Ethiopia where their second son was born. Upon discharge, Kerry and his family lived in California, returning to York 55 years later. He loved travel, researching history and ancient coins, hiking, and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda; sons: Scott and wife Jackie; Ken and wife Shannon; and grandchildren: Emma Harlan and husband Calvin (and great granddaughter Lydia), Wesley, Elsie, Hannah, and Kelton. He is also survived by his sisters Delores and Sue and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will live in our hearts forever.
Graveside services will be held at the Davenport Cemetery on Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00 AM, and a reception will be held in the fellowship hall at the York East Hill Church of Christ at 1:30 PM following the service. All are welcome to attend.
A memorial will be held next month in Burbank, California.
