Joyce Elaine Staberg Dimmitt, 91, of Lincoln, widow of Robert A. Staberg, passed away January 9, 2019. Born April 7, 1927 in Unadilla, NE to Lloyd R. and Bessie M. (Barnes) Whitney. Joyce was a graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School. Married to Robert Staberg on April 21, 1946. To this union two children were born, Lisa Jo and Scott. Married to Kendall Dimmitt on November 11, 1989. Joyce was a retired accounting clerk at UNL.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #3 and V.F.W. Post #131 and a resident of Eastmont Towers.
Family members include her husband Kendall Dimmitt; son Scott Staberg, Lincoln; step-daughters Judy Hoesing, Jean Hildebrand, and Joyce Oehm; brothers Don D. (Judy) Whitney, Lincoln and Neil Whitney, Bradenton, FL; sisters Marilyn Jean Schmieding, Omaha and Mary Ann (Lorenz) Niemeyer, Lincoln. Preceded in death by her parents, first husband Robert Staberg, daughter Lisa and brother Lloyd.
Graveside service: 9:30 a.m. Monday (1-14-19) Fairview Cemetery, 84th & Adams followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street with Pastor Bob Neben officiating.
