Janet Blair

It is with sadness that the family of Janet Rathman Blair announces her death after a short illness. Janet was born in Grand island, Nebraska on August 23, 1944 to Charles Rathman and Lillian (Karle) Rathman. She was united in marriage to Scott K. Blair on June 28, 1964. Three children were born to this union, John and Charlene Blair of Chardon NE, Charles Blair of Indianapolis Indiana, Nodine Jo and H. J. Smith of Valley Center Kansas, and beloved grandson Barrett Smith of Valley Center, Kansas. She is also survived by her sister Linda Quandt of Grand Island, brother and sister in law Bill and Maria Blair of Lincoln, one uncle, nieces, nephews, and many beloved cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her parents.

Janet loved working with children; she taught preschool for many years before becoming a special education teacher for LPS. She loved reading, baking, and spending time with her family. She was known for her great warmth and thoughtfulness. How Janet enjoyed growing up on a farm in Hall Country, she loved to climb trees and make mud pies.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21st, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 M Street, Lincoln, with Pastor Lyn Seiser officiating.

No visitation.

Memorials to the Nebraska Special Olympics or the Saint Paul United Methodist Church Youth Scholarship Fund.
