Irene Gnata, 92, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018. Irene was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to parents, Arthur and Marie Winters, on August 20, 1926. She was a graduate of Benson High School in Omaha. Irene married Peter Gnata on April 8, 1953 in Marshalltown, Iowa. They lived a majority of their married life in Des Moines, Iowa, where Irene was very active in church and local organizations in addition to working as a secretary in law offices and insurance offices. In 1995, Irene and her husband moved to Lincoln. They were members of First Plymouth Congregational Church; Irene was a member of P.E.O. Chapter EE and the Danish Sisterhood.
Irene is survived by daughter and son-in-law Jane and Jim Nyffeler of Lincoln, granddaughter Jennifer Nyffeler of Lincoln, and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Peter, and her two brothers.
Memorial service is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2108, at Roper and Sons ‘O’ Street Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
Visitation one hour prior to service time.
