Helen Kay Rung, 85, passed away peacefully in Lincoln on February 15, 2021. Kay was born in Barada, NE to Thomas and Alta Ludwig. She attended and graduated from Falls city High School. Katy later earned her nursing diploma from the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing and worked there as an RN. Kay went to work as an OBGYN nurse for many years with Doctors Gorthey and Johnson and finally for a brief time at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital before retiring. Nursing was something Kay was extremely proud of and it was very important to her.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents; husband Erwin; son Brian; brother Robert ‘Gayle’ Ludwig; sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Duane Duey. Kay is survived by sons and spouses Steve, Jeff(Dot), Marty, Todd(Amy), sister-in-law Nancy Ludwig, grandchildren Nick, Kylie, Jessica, Lily and Paxton, nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life will be at 10:00 am on Friday February 19, 2021 at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr). Visitation one hour prior to service.
