Helen Dake, 99, of Lincoln, passed away October 8, 2020. Born Thanksgiving day November 28, 1920 in rural Lawrence, NE to Jacob and Marie (Leonhardt) Leonhardt. She grew up on farms near Hanson.
During WWII she worked as an assistant to the Captain’s secretary at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings.
On June 16, 1946 she married Paul Dake. They made their home in Hastings until January 1966 when they moved to Lincoln where she lived for the rest of her life.
Helen was a member of Northeast Community Church. She loved gardening and watching things grow.
Family members include her sons Ron (Diana) Dake, Lincoln and Larry Dake, St. George, UT; daughter Karen Yahnke, Omaha; grandchildren Ben (Tamara) Dake, Blair(Justin) Lansink, Tom Yahnke and Eric (Kim) Yahnke; great-grandchildren Penny and James Dake, Halie, Mila and Carmen Yahnke; sister Ruth (Bob) Barfkneckt.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, brothers Jake, Henry, John, Bill and sisters Frieda Austin and Edna Smith.
