Carol Jean (Belt) Schroeder, 91, died January 31, 2019. Carol was born on March 7, 1927, to Fred and Lydia (Hopp) Belt and raised on a farm Northwest of Emerson, NE. Carol was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Emerson, NE. She graduated from a rural grade school, Emerson Public High School, and earned a Teacher’s Certificate from Wayne State Teachers College. She taught at a rural grade school for three years.
Carol and her sister Vera moved to Lincoln and worked at Gold’s Department store, and at Union National Life Insurance Company. Carol went to Beauty School to become a cosmetologist. She had a salon in their home and retired after 50 years.
Carol and her husband Norbert of 54 years, had 3 children, Pamela (Dan) Kunzman, Alan Schroeder, Amy (John) Filbert. They have 3 granddaughters Katelyn and Hannah Kunzman and Abby Filbert, and 1 grandson Luke Filbert. She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert, her parents and sister Vera Connett. Carol has one brother, Densil (Leora) Belt, and one brother-in-law Dean Connett, 14 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and “4 special cousins,” June (Mackling) Meech, Donald Mackling, Jack Fitzgerald and Donald Fitzgerald.
Funeral Services to be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2225 Washington St., Lincoln (02). Rev. Eric Lesher officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, (2/5), from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St., Lincoln.
