Joseph Tyler Ryan, 32, of Lincoln passed into the loving arms of Jesus on May 5th 2017. Born October 20, 1984 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Precious son of Jim and Rhonda Ryan and Jolene (Fichter) and Jeff Rodzielski. Beloved brother of Jamie Kvittem, husband Dane and family, and Nick Ryan, wife Tosca and family. Cherished dad of Janessa, Brooklyn, Lexi, Joestin, Macin and Jason. Joe had a never-ending love for his family, his partner Jaime Wenzl, and his many friends.
In 2003, Joe graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School. He was a 3 time letterman, two time all-city selection, and honorable mention all-state selection in baseball. He attended Wayne State College. He worked at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor. On Friday and Saturday nights Joe could be found racing his Hobby Stock and Sport modified race cars at Beatrice where he won rookie of the year in 2010. At Eagle Raceway he was two time Hobby Stock Feature Winner in 2009. He ended his racing career and returned to his true love of the outdoors.
Joe owned two German Shorthaired Pointers, Sophie and Bandit. He joined the National German Shorthaired Pointer Association to compete in field trials and was also voted Vice President of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Lincoln. Joe won various awards with his dogs. Joe and Jaime enjoyed camping with their kids at their favorite place, Branched Oak Lake. His girls liked sleep overs in the horse trailer with their dad during field trials. When Joe got involved with something, he was all in. He loved to hunt and fish with his dad and brother, and especially had a knack for attracting the bigger bucks.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at St. Marks United Methodist Church 8550 Pioneers Blvd. Visitation with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Roper and Sons, 4300 “O” Street, Lincoln.
