Edward E. Hannon, 85, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, after a brief illness, in Lincoln, NE. Born to Daniel B. and Elizabeth (Moore) Hannon in Omaha, NE on September 3, 1931.Ed was raised primarily on a farm in Hall County, and graduated from high school in Shelton, NE in 1949.
After a year at Marquette University, he joined the Navy and served oversees in Guam during the Korean War. He graduated from Creighton School of Law in 1959 and moved to O’Neill in 1960 to practice law. Ed married Mary La Greca in Omaha, NE, in 1970. He was appointed a district court judge in O’Neill in 1983 and appointed to the Nebraska State Court of Appeals in 1991. He has been a resident of Lincoln since 1992. Ed retired from the court in 2003.He enjoyed traveling and gardening, was a member of St. Joseph’s parish, and was passionate about working for the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Family members include wife Mary, sons Michael (Lisa Campoli) Hannon of Pittsburgh, PA, Patrick Hannon of Atlanta, GA; daughters Maureen (Todd) Lamski, of Lincoln; Kathleen Hannon of Rochester, MN; and grandchildren Edward Charles Hannon; and Elizabeth, Sarah and Morgan Lamski. Preceded in death by brothers Daniel Hannon Jr and James Hannon; and sisters, Elizabeth Torpey and Mary Brady.
Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 7900 Trendwood Dr. Visitation to be held Monday, March 20, 2017, at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 O Street, 6-7p.m. concluding with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
