Wanda S. Joy, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 from a respiratory illness after living a very full life for 89 years. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in Lincoln, NE. She was a wonderful cook. A talent cultivated early by her father, a baker. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, playing cards and socializing with her many friends. She was a long-time member, deacon and elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church and an active member of Chapter CS, PEO. The true joy in her life was her family.
She was a dedicated daughter to her parents. A loving wife to her husband George, and a wonderful mother to her 3 sons. Her love continued on as a mother-in-law, a grandmother and more recently a great grandmother. Her love, her presence, her sense of humor and sharp wit will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert G. and Mabel Smith, her husband George C. Joy, Jr., her son Gregory H. Joy, and her brother Robert E. Smith. She is survived by her two sons, George C. (Janice A. McGill) Joy III, Matthew A. (Kimberly) Joy, daughter-in-law, Susan S. Joy, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2012 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd. with Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald officiating.
Memorials in lieu of flowers to the church, Home Instead or Saint Elizabeth’s Hospice. No Visitation/Cremation.
