Obituary

Richard A. Kahm

January 31, 1956 - March 22, 2025

Richard Alan Kahm, 69, of Lincoln passed away March 22, 2025. Born January 31, 1956, in Lincoln, NE to Robert and Jeanette (Humphrey) Kahm.

After graduating from Lincoln East High School in 1975, Rich started working at Land & Sky, making waterbed frames. He spent 10 years working for Burlington Northern Railroad. After he left BN, Rich began working for Lincoln Correctional Center. His quiet but firm sense of fairness earned him respect from his coworkers and the incarcerated individuals he was in charge of. In 2020, after 37 years, he retired.

When his wife Sharon retired in 2022, they were able to travel to Oregon to visit Sharon’s sister Sue and fell in love with the pacific northwest. They also enjoyed taking roadtrips to various destinations for family reunions. Another activity they enjoyed after retirement was going to estate sales and auctions in search of that rare find. Rich enjoyed bowling and was very proud of his perfect 300 game.

He loved being outdoors, fishing with his dad, and working in the yard with his best buddy, Cooper. He is now enjoying the companionship again of very special pets Manda and Charlie. Rich loved golfing in a league at Mahoney and on weekends with Keenan. He felt so fortunate to marshal at Holmes Golf Course after he retired. He was in his element on the green and loved the occasional sighting of the eagles that chose to reside there.

Rich’s passing leaves such a void in our family and in our hearts.

Family members include his wife, Sharon; son Keenan; daughter Jennifer, all of Lincoln; grandchildren Kierra Kahm and Khloe Kahm-Wiester; great grandson A.J. Baggett; sisters Janet (Don) Rossbach, Shawnee, KS and Diane Humpal, Lincoln; nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Julia Thomas, Lincoln. Preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren Kinsey and Liam.

Memorial service: 11:00 am Friday, April 4, 2025, Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 South 33rd St. Private committal service.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the family for future designation.
