Her early years were spent in Liberty, Missouri. The family moved to a family farm in Clay County where she attended school in Kearney, MO and graduated from Kearney High School where she met and married Bobby Musgrove. This marriage blessed them with 2 daughters, Heather and Heidi, and 8 happy years before his untimely death in 1975. Several years later on a blind date she met Larry Post. She remarried and with her daughters joined him and his son, Dana, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to begin a new life. They enjoyed 47 loving years together.
The real joy of Sharon’s life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed creating a loving home life for her family and friends. She was good at organizing her house, decorating with antiques, cooking new recipes and especially baking sweet snacks for her family. She was an excellent seamstress. Everyone she knew treasured the personal greeting cards she created.
It was important to her to make birthdays very special. She always completed her Christmas shopping early. For years she and Larry hosted an annual open house for business friends and family. She enjoyed planning every detail; invitations, decorating, baking and freezing goodies early, and trying new recipes. A traditional favorite was her bacon wrapped bread sticks.
She was a petite, spunky redhead ready to stand up for herself and her loved ones. She was also endlessly loving and forgiving. She had a contagious laugh that sometimes brought herself to silly tears. Those in attendance couldn’t help but join in.
After raising her children, she applied her caring character and organizational skills to being a receptionist for Woods Brothers Realty in Lincoln, NE.
Sharon had a lucky streak and won many raffle drawings. One was for a red Corvette, but she was too short to drive it.
She is survived by her husband Larry, daughters Heather Downs (Joe), Heidi Polson (Tim), son Dana Post (Rhonda); grandchildren Elijah Downs, John Thomas (JT) Downs, Willow Polson, Charlee Polson, Ian Post, Quintin Post, Anna Nix (Aaron); 7 great-grandchildren; brother John Duncan Jr (Mary), and sisters Mary Whited, Susanne Gibbons (Danny) and Carol Grimm.
