In 1972, the Haakenstad family moved to Norfolk, Nebraska. Timothy graduated from Norfolk High School in 1978 and then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering and Technology.
Tim had a lengthy career that began as a Civil Engineer in 1980 with the USDA/Natural Resource Conservation Service for offices in many areas of Nebraska. He later became the Assistant State Conservation Engineer in Lincoln from 1998-2007 and was the State Conservation Engineer in Lincoln from 2007-2015, when he retired from USDA/NRCS. After his retirement, he worked part time in the private sector as a civil engineer.
Tim married Kiki Nick on January 12, 1990, in Omaha, NE. They had four children, Ellana Kristina, Alexandra Katerina, Samson Christian and Victoria Elizabeth.
Timothy had a passion for classic cars; his first vehicle was a restored 1956 Chevy. He loved attending classic car shows and frequently visited swap meets. He loved to listen to blues music. Additionally, he enjoyed drawing and spending time with his family and friends.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents Sydney and Bonnie Haakenstad. He is survived by his wife Kiki, daughters Ellana, Alexandra, Victoria and son Sam, brother Jon Haakenstad, sister Salle (Haakenstad) Robinson and her husband Corby.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Roper and Sons South Chapel.
A visitation with family present will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Roper and Sons South Chapel.
