Obituary

Sherri R. Dean

February 8, 1945 - September 19, 2024

Sherri passed on 9/19/24 at the age of 79, with her daughter by her side.

Sherri grew up in Sioux City, Iowa where she lived until retirement. She moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2016 to be close to family. Sherri adored her grandson and loved spending time with her daughter.

Nothing was more important to Sherri than her family, her cats and her crafts. Her first passion at a young age was art and creating.  Over the years, Sherri has done canvas painting, tole painting, knitting, crocheting, tatting, cross stitching, paper crafts, and card making. She was always busy working on something with a cat by her side. Sherri was also obsessed with Elvis and very fond of holidays. She was the family’s Tiny Tim of Christmas.

Sherri is survived by her daughter Melissa Barnett (Jon), grandson Josh Barnett (Atira), sister Vicky Moore (Jim), nephew Rick Moore (Laurie Kauffman).

She is preceded in death by her parents Neal and Grace Harris.

Family would like to thank the caregivers of Country House, Sumner Place and Tabitha Hospice for their compassionate care in her final years.

Funeral will be held on 10/7/24 at 11:00am at Roper & Sons South location.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sherri’s name to The Cat House in Lincoln: thecathouse.org

The memory I have of Sherri is when I went to her house twice a week for her to teach me how to tole paint, we always had so much fun those two nights out of the week. It always amazed me how talented she was, I don’t think there was anything she could not do and do it beautifully. All the weeks going to her house I painted a lot of things I’m very proud of.
