Marvin graduated from Plainview High School with the Class of 1959 where he excelled in baseball, football and trips to the principal’s office. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963.
On May 29, 1960, Marvin was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Jane Spatz. They were blessed with two sons: John and Rich. In 1972 they moved to Holdrege, where Marvin served as Phelps County Associate County Judge for nearly 25 years. In 1998, Marvin and Jane moved to Lincoln to follow their calling to become full time volunteer chaplains for the Nebraska Correctional Facilities. For over 21 years, their ministry; Impact Ministries served the Lord by witnessing to countless inmates in Nebraska.
Marvin was a lifelong sports fan, with Nebraska football and women’s basketball being his favorites. Marvin loved Jesus, his wife, kids, grandchildren and his Christ’s Place Church family, where he was a member.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Leonard and Juanita Spatz, and his oldest brother Robert.
Marvin leaves to celebrate his life his wife of 64 years Jane, two sons John and wife LuAnn of Norfolk; Rich and wife Lori of Holdrege; five grandchildren, Noah Watson of Omaha; Jonah Watson of Kearney; Reba (Mitch) Lowry of St. Petersburg, Florida; Elijah Watson of Sherman Oaks, California and Hannah (Avery) Goldfish of Holdrege. One brother Rich Watson, his wife Nancy and one sister Trudy Geiger. Brother-in-law Gerain Spatz and his wife Laura, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held in Lincoln at 11:00 on Friday, July 26 at Roper and Sons South Chapel, (3950 Hohensee Dr.) Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Christ’s Place Church in Marvin’s honor.
