Roy E. Churchill

March 13, 1926 - October 16, 2010

Roy E. Churchill, 84, Lincoln, died Saturday (10-16-10). Born (3-13-26) in Ashland, Nebraska to Roy E. and Gladys C. (Scott) Churchill. Roy was a teacher and track coach at Southeast High School from its inception until his retirement. He served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Roy was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Kappa Sigma, Lincoln East Rotary, Habitat for Humanity and was a lifetime member of NEA. He was the voice announcer for the state high school basketball tournament for many years.

Family members include wife Barbara G. Churchill, Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Laurie Churchill, Lincoln; daughter Mary Kaye Churchill, Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law Margaret and James Black, Papillion; grandchildren Sara Barrow, Moran, WY; Kate Barrow, Lincoln; Michaela Black, Papillion; Aaron Black, Papillion, Alex Churchill, Stanford, CA; Maesen Churchill, Stanford, CA; great grandchild Demetrius Barrow, Lincoln, NE. Preceded in death by parents.

Honorary Pallbearers: Frank Mills, Joe Dappen, David Caudy, John Garrison, Tom Douglas, Art Hillman, Bob Sim, BobHall.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday (10-25-10) at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Fr. Sam Boman officiating.

Visitation: Saturday (10-23-10) at Roper and Sons Funeral Home from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM.
