Donald E. Brooks, 45, Lincoln, died Friday (7-2-10) after a courageous nine month battle with cancer. Born (12-6-64) in Lincoln, Nebraska to Robert L. and Dorothy J. (Shultz) Brooks. Graduate of Northeast High School. Devoted employee of Duncan Aviation, Material Services, for the past 13 years. Loved airplanes, fishing, cars, meeting new people, friendships and their dog “Cookie”. Don had a wonderful artistic talent for drawing ships, and airplanes and enjoyed wildlife.
Survived by his loving wife of 25 years: Lisa (Dobbs); brothers, sisters-in-law: Gary E. and Pamela Brooks, Hickman, Robert L. Brooks, Jr., Ronald A. Brooks (twin brother), both of Lincoln; sisters, brothers-in-law: Gloria and Mike Tune, Safety Harbor, FL, Brenda “Susie” Engstrom, Debra Mathiesen, both of Lincoln, Gayla and Davis DeRock, Augusta, KS; Uncle: “Dean” Shultz, Guide Rock; brother-in-law, sister-in-law: Michael and Jodi Dobbs, Lincoln; father, mother-in-law: William and Lois Dobbs, Lincoln; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, sister Linda D. Minchow.
A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (7-8-10) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Pastor Darin Corder officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.
