Obituary

Mark Alan Wolfe

January 3, 1952 - November 20, 2023

Mark Alan Wolfe, of Lincoln Nebraska, went to his eternal reward on Monday November 20, 2023. He passed due to complications following a successful stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma.
Mark was born January 3, 1952, in Columbus Nebraska.

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler of many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Matthew 25:23

He married Marjorie Kohlmeier of Columbus on June 29, 1974, and they settled in Lincoln where they have resided for the last 49 years. Mark worked as a police officer for the city of Lincoln from 1973 through 2002. After taking early retirement he continued in law enforcement working for the State of Nebraska Insurance Fraud Prevention unit. He fully retired in 2019 and spent his remaining years enjoying traveling with Marge, adding stamps to his National Park Passport, camping with family and friends, and spending time enjoying his seven grandchildren. He was a man of God, faithful husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. We will miss him dearly but take heart that he is in the welcoming arms of Jesus.

He is survived by his loving wife Marge and his two children, Ben and his wife Lyn (Klein) and their two daughters and two sons, and Lori and her husband Chad Beerenstrauch along with their daughter and two sons. He is also survived by his mother Erna (Sommer) Wolfe, brother Tom, sisters Marcia, Lisa and her husband Steve Krings, Sandra and her husband Jesse Siffring, and sister-in-law Kathy (Engle) along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father DeVerne and brother Jeff.

A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM at Christ Lincoln, 4325 Sumner, St. Lincoln, Nebraska on Monday November 27, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Hope Feeding Program or American Cancer Society.

I worked with Mark for years. Mark served his community well and was recognized by his peers for his devotion to his faith and family. If you knew Mark, you admired Mark. He will be missed….

Mark was as solid as they come and a true man of God! I have fond memories of the years Mark joined the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics as we ran across Nebraska. It was just one example of his giving nature. Rest in peace my friend.

Mark was one of my first training officers when I joined LPD. Valuable lessons were provided by him. Mark always had an ornery look but was a gentle and kind man.

My dear Marge and Ben and Lori: So saddened to hear about Mark. This world just lost a very special man who was a man of God, a faithful and loving husband and father, one of the best policemen Lincoln ever had and the list could go on and on. In the end, Mark met his Creator and will be living forever in Heaven with Him in all His glory. Until you are reunited with Mark in that very special place, Marge, Ben and Lori….take heart that you will have such great memories that you all made together through your tears and smiles about Mark. God’s Blessings. Dean and Trisha Prochnow

Mark & I were partners for a time in the late 70’s. He was “good police” and a better man. RIP brother.

I’m so sorry to hear about Marks passing. Our families lived on the sane block when us kids were younger. What a wonderful time we all had together as children growing up in the 60’s

Mark’s son Ben and I were best friends from elementary through highschool. During that time I was blessed to see the loving and caring father and the strong Christian role-model he was for his kids. He was someone I looked up to during those formative years and have always cherished the memories I made camping with the Wolfe’s. A prayer for the Wolfe family: Dear Heavenly Father, You have called Mark home to his enternal rest and he has left behind those who mourn his absence. Grant that we may hold his/her memory dear, never bitter for what we have lost nor in regret for the past, but always in hope of the eternal Kingdom where you will bring us together again. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
